Hideo Kojima Agrees With Me, Cloud Computing Really Is The Future
By Brandon Miller

If you didn’t get the chance to read my article on Cloud Computing from about a day ago, you should check that out as soon as you have few minutes of free time. Apparently Hideo Kojima, legendary creator of the Metal Gear series agrees me based some statements he made at a recent event in Tokoyo.
Kojima, whose Metal Gear Games have sold more than 27 million copies, says in no uncertain terms that the consoles of today will be extinct by tomorrow.
“In the near future, we’ll have games that don’t depend on any plaftorm. Gamers should be able to take the experience with them in their livings rooms, on the go, when they travel — wherever they are and whenever they want to play. It should be the same software and the same experience,” he said.
Sony Computer Entertainment Japan President Hiroshi Kawano said “It’s a bold prediction. We hope he continues to develop for platforms, but we deeply respect his sense of taking on a new challenge.”
I’d say Kojima’s vision sounds almost exactly like what we can expect from Cloud Computing. It completely eliminates the need for expensive hardware and upgrades will happen gradually on the back end as technology improves. So in that sense, the console as we know it will no longer be an important factor. It’s nice to know that Kojima and I share the same vision for the future of gaming.
